The house of the future is the house where technology blends harmoniously with your lifestyle, ensuring a perfect balance between comfort and relaxation. Intended for the whole family, VIKI technology is more than home automation. Our system automatically adapts to the changes in the environment in which it is installed, without needing a manual reconfiguration of the settings at each change of the family’s preferences.
In these processes of learning and reproducing the behavior of the users depending on the environmental context, the requirement to detect their presence in the respective location and to automatically identify each individual who is in the respective space is critical . Sensor types and their role in the VIKI smart home
VIKI the “virtual butler” gets some help when it comes to the safety of the family living in the smart home. These small sensors, each with its own field of activity, quickly inform VIKI about changes in the physical-chemical parameters in the house. The VIKI team presents a review of the types of sensors used by the VIKI smart home and their role in ensuring its worry-free operation.
CO sensor – Carbon monoxide is an invisible and odorless gas, very dangerous for both humans and animals. This sensor monitors the key appliances in the home: boiler, stove / central heating unit, stove / oven, fireplace. When a hazard is triggered, when maximum levels of Carbon monoxide are reached, the sensor communicates with the VIKI application and sends users instant notifications in the form of alerts on the mobile phone as well as on the tablets in the house.

VIKI and KNX go caroling together
The VIKI team learned and tested in the past days the structure of the telegrams that can be sent in the KNX protocol and technology.
The system proposed by KNX has demonstrated flexibility and compatibility with our plans to extend the VIKI solution, and its automation facilities will be successfully completed by the intelligence layer developed by us, regarding the control of the light, climate or the control of the security system.

VIKI befriends KNX
VIKI the smart home takes a step towards interfacing with the KNX solution. In December we have researched KNX technology and tested the possibility of integrating the VIKI intelligence layer with the connection offered by the KNX solution.
KNX is a system that retains its value
KNX is the only system that complies with the requirements of the European (EN50090) and International (ISO / IEC 14543) standards for Home Automation. This compliance certifies the value of KNX technology and it is the quality proof for homeowners.
KNX is an open system
KNX provides the freedom to choose the products that are to be integrated in your home: over 200 manufacturers offer you a variety of KNX products, certified and compatible, according to the latest standards in the technical field, having the complete freedom to choose. So, with KNX you build today for tomorrow.
KNX technology is a worldwide standard for all home automation applications, from lighting and window blinds control, to various security systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, alarm monitoring, sanitation control, energy management, measuring, and also devices for home, audio and many more.
KNX technology can be used not only in new buildings, but also in existing ones and has been on the market for over 23 years, including predecessors, EIB, EHS and BatiBUS.
The systems designed according to the KNX standard can be applied from the level of an apartment to huge installations such as the new terminals of airports in the world, like Beijing, built for the 2008 Olympics, or terminal 5 at London’s Heathrow airport.
This leads to a great flexibility and the possibility to model many intelligent functions even for residential, multi or single-family buildings.
The VIKI team will return in the next period with details about the results of the tests performed in this research.

How do you prepare for a peaceful winter? Prepare the warm clothes in the closet, make sure the heating system will work, change the car tires… but the house? How do you prepare the house for shorter and colder days? With VIKI, you don’t have to worry.
The VIKI intelligence will naturally adapt to the changes that come with the cold months and will continue to provide that warm atmosphere, the safety and comfort that define the feeling of “home”. Therefore, it is important to make sure that your home is well lit and heated at all times. With VIKI’s intelligent solutions, you can create some preset scenarios that will help to establish a suitable environment for any occasion. You can create a bright workspace in the kitchen when you cook, choosing “Cooking” mode.
